I think it’s safe to say everyone loves rice krispie treats and cereal bars and everyone loves the chocolate, peanut butter combo. I have a mild obsession with schotcharoos, really anything with peanut butter and chocolate. I wanted something I could whip up quick without having to think ahead. When I say quick, these bars were done in under 10 minutes, plus they can be made in one bowl, so cleanup is just as quick
These are one of my favorite last minute treats, because I always have chocolate and peanut butter on hand and I typically have at least half a bag of rice krispies. They look really nice packaged up in treat bags, and are great for potlucks or picnics because they don’t require refrigeration.
Start by combining the chocolate, peanut butter, maple syrup, and butter in a microwave safe bowl or double boiler. Microwave in 30 second intervals, while stirring until melted. In a large mixing bowl combine the melted chocolate mixture and the rice krispies, using a rubber spatula fold to combine. Refrigerate until the bars have set up, slice into 8 equal bars and enjoy! These will last up to a week in a air tight container.
