What other ways can I use this Spicy Mango Salsa?
So you’re loving this spicy mango salsa so much, that you want more ways to enjoy it rather than simply served along side tortilla chips. Well, you’re in luck because there are many other ways you can enjoy this delicious spicy mango salsa.
I personally love it on grilled chicken breasts or on a piece of seared salmon, served alongside some rice. It’s also a really nice way to add some extra freshness to shrimp or fish taco’s. The other day I made some breakfast street tacos with scrambled eggs, cheese, avocado and topped them with some of this salsa, and it was the perfect addition! Looking for a vegetarian friendly option? Toss a few spoonfuls into a cheese quesadilla for a sweet and spicy kick.
What else can I add into my Salsa?
The possibilities are endless when it comes to combinations for this salsa, if you are wanting to go on the more fruity side, add in some diced fresh peaches or strawberries. Want to add more spice to your salsa, try some red Thai chili’s instead of the bell pepper, or throw in a diced Serrano pepper in addition too the jalapeno. As always, if you don’t like one of the ingredients in the recipe than of course, leave it out. It’s always fun to experiment with new recipes.
How do I easily dice my mango?
Don’t let cutting mango’s intimidate you, there are some easy ways around the pit. One option, if you have a sharp peeler or pairing knife, you can peel of the skin and than you are simply left to cut around the pit and cut into your desired shape. The only obstacle can be cutting around the pit, but there is really no way around that as you can’t see the pit, and they are not always the same size and shape.
The other way to easily dice your mango’s would be to cut each side of the mango away from the pit, leaving the skin on. You would than have 4, maybe a few more, sides of mango and the separated pit, which you can discard. Than using a shallow glass, start at the bottom of the mango chunk and use the glass to separate the flesh from the skin. Slide the mango down the cup, once you get to the bottom your mango chunk should be separated from the skin (I know it sounds confusing, but come on I know you have seen it before on Pinterest).
Really all there is to this recipe is dicing up all your ingredients. Grab a large mixing bowl, add in the diced mango. Dice your mango, I gave a few helpful ways to do this above. Add the diced mango into the mixing bowl, along with the diced bell peppers, jalepeno, red onion, cilantro, salt, and lime juice. Stir gently to combine. Let sit for 5-10 minutes so all the flavors can mix, and serve along side chips or as your favorite topping.
