Classic Waffles

These classic waffles are light, airy, and have the perfect hint of sweetness! Quick, easy to make, and the perfect breakfast addition, they are also freezer friendly! Top with mixed berries, warm maple syrup, and softened butter. This recipe makes 6 classic American waffles, the difference between American and Belgian waffles, is yeast. American waffles do not call for yeast, as Belgian waffles do!

How to freeze extra waffles:

Make waffles according to the recipe, I recommend making a double batch if you are planning to freeze some. Allow to cool completely on a cooling rack, you don’t want to place steamy waffles into a container together! Once cool, place into an airtight container or Ziploc bag. I like to label my bag or container with the name, date, and heating instructions if necessary.

Topping ideas & Variations:

  • Mixed berries or Jam
  • Fold Chocolate chips into the batter
  • Nutella
  • Sliced bananas & Peanut butter
  • Blueberry or raspberry syrup
