Tender greens beans, garlic, onions, bacon, and slivered almonds come together quickly to make this easy side dish

Ingredients
2lbs.Fresh green beans, cleaned and ends trimmed
4-5slicesBacon, diced
3tbspUnsalted butter
1tbspOlive oil
1Small red onion, finely diced
2-3clovesGarlic, minced
2/3cupSliced or slivered almonds
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Fill a large bowl with ice water, set aside. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat, add in the trimmed green beans. Boil for 4-5 minutes, the green beans will still be slightly crisp. *Cook longer if you want them softer. Immediately after cooking, transfer to the bowl of ice water to stop cooking.
Heat a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, add in the butter and olive oil. Once hot add in the diced bacon, cook until browned, remove from pan and set aside. red onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft and fragrant. Add in the minced garlic and almonds, sauté again for 1-2 minutes. Add in the cooked green beans, sauté together for another couple minutes. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and fresh thyme.
To the same pan add in the red onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft and fragrant. Add in the minced garlic and almonds, sauté again for 1-2 minutes. Add the bacon back in. Add in the cooked green beans, toss to combine and cook 2-3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Serve the green beans spooning over any of the excess almond mixture, enjoy immediately!
