Easy Potato Au Gratin

This easy potato au gratin is the perfect side dish. Tender layered potatoes in a creamy garlic parmesan sauce. Not only is this quick to whip up, but once assembled simply toss in the oven until done! This can be made a few hours in advance and baked once ready, making it perfect for holidays or dinner parties.

This potato au gratin can be made in any oval or rectangular casserole dish or any cast iron skillet.

Tools I used for this recipe:

  • Oval Baking Dish both functional and modern!
  • Handheld Mandolinperfect for getting even slices, this mandolin has a rubber handle for good grip and a safety guard. Plus it takes up very little space and you can change the thickness as desired.

Grocery List:

Instructions for the easy potato au gratin:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F, grease a baking dish and set aside.

Heat a small saucepan over medium-high heat, once warm add in the butter and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, until fragrant. Remove from the heat, add in the cream and shredded parmesan cheese. Stir until cheese is melted. Season with salt and pepper.

Arrange the sliced potatoes evenly in the greased baking dish. Pour the cream mixture over top, coating each potato.

Bake at 375 for 55-60 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and golden brown. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and enjoy!

Notes

*May substitute russet or any other waxy potato 

*May substitute whole or 2% milk

  • 1- 1 1/2 lbs. Yukon gold potatoes, sliced thinly*
  • 1 stick Unsalted butter,
  • 3-4 Cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup Heavy cream or milk*
  • 1 cup Freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs, for garnish
