Variations & serving ideas:

  • Serve with a variety of dipping sauce like cheese sauce, honey mustard, bbq sauce, or ketchup
  • Top crescent rolls with bagel seasoning or sesame seeds before baking
  • Serve on a snack platter along with tater tots, fries, and pretzel bites
  • Top with coarse salt before baking

Cut each crescent into three smaller triangles. Take the crescent roll triangles and roll a smokie up in each triangle. A pizza cutter can make cutting the crescent dough quick and easy!

Tools I used for this easy air fryer recipe:

Grocery store list & substitutions:

  • Beef cocktail franks or beef little smokies – you could alternatively use hot dogs cut into chunks or small sausages
  • Crescent roll dough – or substitute biscuit dough rolled thin if needed or a puff pastry sheet
  • Extra seasonings as desired
  • Dipping sauces
  • Cooking spray

This delicious appetizer is a great idea for football games, snack nights, or a tasty snack before Christmas dinner.

Can I cook Pillsbury crescent rolls in the air fryer?

Yes! Crescent rolls in the air fryer only take 5-6 minutes to cook. They come out perfectly cooked, not doughy, and golden brown. Just make sure to spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray so nothing sticks.

How long do pigs in a blanket take to cook?

Pigs in a blanket in the air fryer only take 5-7 minutes, the smokies are already cooked so you just need to make sure the crescents cook through.

How do you make pigs in a blanket not soggy?

Spreading the pigs in a blanket 1-2 inches apart ensure these have room to rise slightly. Not over crowding and air frying in a single layer ensures these don’t get soggy.

After rolling the cocktail sausages, top each one with seasoning if desired. These can be pre-made a few hours in advance and baked when needed.

Place rolled crescents into a greased air fryer basket, spacing 1-2 inches apart. This may need to be done in batches.

Instructions for the easy air fryer pigs in a blanket:

  • Cut each crescent triangle into 3 smaller triangles*. Place a little smokie at the widest end and roll until you reach the smallest end. Repeat. If desired, top unbaked crescents with everything bagel seasoning.
  • Preheat your air fryer using the “air fry” setting, at 400 degrees F for 5-7 minutes. Spray the basket with cooking spray. Once preheated, add in the rolled smokies, spacing about 2 inches apart. Air fry for 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
