This 3 Ingredient Crockpot Chili Cheese Dip is the most simple appetizer or game day snack. Velveeta, cream cheese, and chili make up this easy dip. Serve topped with sliced green onions, cilantro, and corn chips or your favorite tortilla chips. Not only is this easy dip a crowd favorite but the crock pot makes it effortless!

This homemade chili cheese dip is the perfect party food!

Tools I used for this Velveeta chili cheese dip:

  • Crock pot – A classic, versatile kitchen appliance!
  • Can Opener – this is my go to can opener, it has stayed sharp for a while and doesn’t break the bank
  • Ceramic Soup Bowls – perfect for serving this dip!

Grocery Store List & Substitutions:

  • Classic Velveeta cheese
  • Cream cheese (such as Philadelphia cream cheese)
  • Chili, leftover homemade chili or store bought canned chili such as Hormel chili or wolf brand chili (you can also add additional ground beef if desired)
  • Corn chips, Fritos scoops, or tortilla chips for dipping
  • Additional cheese for topping
  • Cilantro or green onions for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a crock pot and heat until smooth, stirring frequently. You can use store-bought or handmade chili, I use my Easy Five Ingredient Instant Pot Beef Chili!

Variations:

How do you keep Velveeta cheese dip creamy?

Keeping the crock pot on low and not over heating will allow the Velveeta to melt evenly. Frequent stirring will keep the dip creamy and ensure nothing burns to the bottom of the crock pot. Allow the cream cheese and Velveeta to melt completely before serving so the dip is smooth not chunky.

How do you keep Velveeta cheese dip from getting hard?

Keeping this chili cheese dip in the crockpot on low or on the keep warm setting until ready to serve helps the cheese form hardening. Make sure you are stirring the dip frequently so it does not burn or harden.

  • In the bowl of a slow cooker, combine cream cheese, Velveeta, and chili. Stir to combine. Heat on high for 40-45 minutes, stirring frequently until smooth.*
  • Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with cilantro and green onions. Serve with corn chips or other favorite chips. Any leftover dip will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Notes:

*If you do not want to serve the dip immediately or want to keep it warm for a few hours. Set on ‘keep warm’ setting and stir occasionally. Or cook on low for 1 hour.
